Wei Group’s data destruction practices have been developed over its long time in the IT industry and during the decommissioning process uses industry standard programs to wipe data efficiently and securely. This includes up to the highest standards if required.
For additional security, data destruction can be done at your premises.
Otherwise WEI Group Ltd does this at its commercial warehouse facility.
Data destruction options
- Data wiping of all PCs, laptops, tablets, servers etc is a standard part of our decommissioning process and this approach is suitable for most clients.
- Data of a more sensitive nature is wiped using a range of proven programs that are rated to meet the Industry Standard DoD 5220.22-M which is used by US Government Departments and other international organisations.
- The highest level of data destruction is offered through a certified data wiping program which also provides full reporting on the clearing of the hard drive.
- Hard drive physical destruction is also an option using purposed built equipment.
In-house or on-site data wiping
- Data can be wiped at our secure warehouse at Rosedale (North Shore Auckland) which is equipped with video security, monitored alarms and has nightly patrols.
- Data can be wiped on-site (either physically or using the agreed program).
- Our employees are Ministry of Justice Criminal Record checked.
Secure transit of equipment
- Should clients opt for data wiping at our warehouse, equipment can either be sealed and freighted by clients using their preferred carrier or we can collect equipment using our own transport vehicles or one of our freight companies.
Reporting and auditing
- All equipment acquired by us is allocated a unique asset code and each step of the decommissioning and remarketing process is tracked (including data wiping) in a Decommissioning Report.
- The Decommissioning Report shows the specs of the equipment and what data wiping/destruction was completed.
- Any hard drives that present faults or anomalies (and therefore don’t complete the data wiping process) are physically destroyed.
Additional steps
- We are happy to return a sample of hard drives to you for verification that data has been wiped if required or for you to visit our Warehouse to view our operations.
